Extremely challenging site location and logistics for unitised glazing
Extremely challenging programme dates
The Brief
Working with the architect at planning stage, Bespoke Glass Structures submitted a pc sum to the client for the required works. We were appointed to the project and worked with the architect to come up with some provisional designs.
Our Approach
Having secured the project, GSL attended a site meeting following demolition of the old site to understand the requirements and meet with the builders.
After completion of the design with the architects, we ran through the calculations with our structural engineer to ensure everything was fit for purpose.
After completion of design with the architects, we ran through the calculations with our structural engineer ensuring everything designed was fit for purpose. We designed a "tin hat" scaffold over the glass roof incorporating an automatic hoist in able to lift the roof panels up through the atrium and outside the building by manoeuvring the panels through their own openings and lowering them back into position onto our steel frame. The panels are secured by our 'Dow Corning' two-part structural silicone.
The Result
Now fully complete, the project looks highly impressive and have made the clients and architects vision a reality.
